There are 2 common types of water softener installation. One kind is the non-digital cabinet unit. It accepts non-softened water through a main valve which then takes the water to the purifying resin bed. The cleansing resins need to be flushed with salt, once every night, for some units. Monitoring non-digital units are done manually. Maintenance checks on this kind are usually managed through a lid that has to be opened or through a window in the unit. The advantages of having this type of installation come mostly, from how the vessel isn’t likely to crash or breakdown on a regular basis.
The second kind of water softener installation is the digital cabinet vessel. It can be a single cylinder system or a double cylinder system. For units which have 2 cylinders, one of them is designed for on demand water softening functions while the other one is for regular capacity. This type can be automatically programmed for any maintenance procedures. The advantages of having a digital water softener installation are: less noise, less salt bag requirement, and lower machine maintenance demands. The typical disadvantages are frequent digital breakdowns and expensive replacement parts.
An important factor to consider, when you’re looking for a good water softener system, is the volume of water that a certain softener vessel can accept. While most manual units can accept large volumes, they are prone to leak more in contrast to the digital units. Although, leaks from non-digital types can be easily fixed and the same problem would be a load to solve, for the digital types.
