A water softener tank may be from these two common types: resin tank or brine tank. Water filter systems need these tanks in order to effectively cleanse and purify drinking water.
If you look around you, resin tanks look better than brine tanks. The former type come in many colors nowadays, and are becoming lighter and more compact. The latter kind, remain as bulky and drab as when they first came out in a model. They also tend to look like trash bins.
When you’re installing a new system in your house, choose a model that has a resin water softener tank. It will look much better and has more aesthetic appeal. Match it with the color of your carpet; match it to the color of your spouse’s eyes; match it to your drapes, why don’t you. Not only that: resin tanks are cheaper to replace, in contrast to their counterparts which are the brine tanks.
If you opt to install your main water filtering system in an outhouse, then choose a model that has a brine water softener tank. Since you’ve chosen to install it where it can’t really be seen so how it looks, shouldn’t matter. Also, brine tanks do perform much better than resin tanks, no matter how nice these ones look.
Brine tanks have more salt in them and don’t rely as much on chlorine. Softened water from resin tanks will have higher levels of chlorine. That’s another reason to choose a unit with a brine tank. You won’t have to drink filtered water that still have lots of chlorine in it, even after it has been purified.
